Christmas 2010

Well, it was a good one! Santa did great & the kids loved all of their presents. Emory's favorites were his new car & his pizza. He dove right in & was eating it all morning! He was a good little boy & shared with everyone too!
Harlan was interested in what was going on, but obviously had no clue. Cam had a blast helping his brothers open their presents & getting a few of his own as well. He loved his wrestling shirt & new basketball, but most of all loved his Eagles tickets!

Christmas Eve

It is 9:56 pm and Santa is on his way! We had a great day together celebrating Christmas eve. We spent the afternoon at Grancie and Granpys house. Cam and Em had fun opening presents and we had a nice lunch. Harlan was a good boy and ate napped and watched everyone. Tonight we had our usual Christmas eve dinner at the Hackendahls. The kids had a blast playing and opening presents. Uncle Peep does the stockings for the kids, which is always a hit. They got the typical hats and oranges just like we did as kids. Now we are heading home to play Santa. Being a parent at Christmas is even better than Christmas was as a kid. I just love being able to create special holiday memories for our boys. We are so lucky to be able to not only provide them.with great gifts, but special people to share the holidays with, delicious food on their plates and a warm cozy bed to go home to have sweet dreams in. We don't take any of it for granted any day, but especially around the holidays and we are doing our best to instill thaT sane appreciation in them. So, home we go to get ready for a big morning tomorrow! I know that I will be waking the greatest gift ever tomorrow morning and that is waking up to my beautiful family. Merry Christmas 2010!

Tuesday, December 21, 2010

As usual, December is full of fun & excitement getting ready for Christmas!  Emory loves all of the decorations around the house & when we go driving.  When he woke up from his nap to see the decorations when he first saw them he said "Momma, I like it!"  He has been a very good boy just looking at the tree with his eyes, not hands!  He makes a special point to get his eyes very close, but not touch.  Harlan loves to look at the lights as well.  Cam is very into our Elf on a shelf, Larry.  Unfortunately, Larry is being very forgetful this year & isn't moving every night, as he should :)  Emory also LOVES his Christmas tree in his room.  It must be on for naps & bedtime.  This week Poppa & Gamma are here getting ready for Christmas with us.  We made pierogis (with Em's help) & cookies.  Emory likes to taste test, as opposed to cook/bake.  His favorite thing to ask right now is "Whatchu doin here?"  Emory also got a very special Christmas stocking that Gamma made for him.   It is beautiful & he will have it forever.  Emory talked to Santa on the telephone last night & asked for some gifts.  He wants pizza, a big firetruck, a ball, a green binky for Harlan, a green bag for Cameron, a tattoo for Daddy & a pirate for Mommy.  He wants no parts of actually meeting Santa in person though. Harlan did though!  He did great with Santa!  He even smiled for the camera.
We are so excited for Harlan's 1st Christmas, even though he won't really know whats going on.  Hopefully Emory loves it as much as he has loved prepping for it & we know Cameron is so excited to spend time with his brothers on Christmas morning & see then open their presents.
We also made a few special holiday field trips!  We went to Christmas Village to see all of the lights & we also went to Peddler's Village with Grancie & Granpy to do the same.  Hopefully we've started some new, special traditions with our boys!  We got our tree as well & I think it was the quickest trip ever to get a Christmas tree...3 kids will do that!  We put up the tree on Saturday morning & had alot of fun.  Emory even learned the "Santa Clause Wants Some Lovin'" Dance.   The boys got their ornaments for this year & Emory broke his within 1 minute of having it, but they are cute none the less!
Well, Santa if you are out there reading this, please make note that we have 3 VERRRRRY good boys here & we know that you will be good to them!

Happy Thanksgiving 2010

As I put Emory to bed tonight, we snuggled, as we often do.  While I was telling him how much I love him & that I am thankful for him, I had a few realizations.  As simple as it seems, I took a minute to actually think about how lucky Matt & I are to have our boys.  We have alot of friends right now trying to get pregnant & we have been blessed with 2 happy & healthy pregnancies that have resulted in our beautiful Emory & Harlan.  Tonight, we go to bed feeling so thankful for everything we have, but especially for our baby boys.  We are also thankful for all of our family & for our friends, who ARE family to us.   Ahhhh.....going to bed with big smiles tonight :) :)

Emory is Thankful For...

As per our dinner conversation tonight Emory is thankful for (or order) noodles, Daddy, Layla, cookies, Harlan, Roy (our neighbor), juice & Mommy.
Gotta love him!  We are so thankful for him & his health & the laught that he provides for us everyday!

My Boys

I love you, all 4 of you.  We had a beautiful day together.
Harlan, you were your sweet, patient self at church, while grocery shopping & while watching Mommy prep Cam's birthday dinner,  just you & I.   You sat down to watch the football game with Daddy & just cooed & smiled & chatted with him  I love how you look at Daddy & how he looks at you during those special moments each night.
Emory, you were your silly self from sun up to sun down.  You make us laugh more in one day, than I had in whole weeks before you came into our lives.  You are a true light in all of our lives.  You freeze each moment & do anything & everything to make the spot light shine on you & only you.
Cam, you were your pleasant & helpful self all day.  You are so sweet with Emory & spend 99.9% of your day with him.  You don't care that he wants to play silly little toddler games, you are just grateful & happy to spend time with him & laugh & smile together.   You are so helpful, even today as we celebrated your birthday.
Matt, what can I say?  I am more than blessed to have you as my husband & the father of our sons.  You are such a respectable male role model for them.  You show them what it means to be a kind & loving man to your loved ones, especially me.  You tell them that you love them & show them affection & I love that....I love each & every "I love you" you share with them & each & every hug & kiss you shower them with.
I am beyond blessed & I know it :)

Funny Memory

Can I tell you where I found out when/where I was pregnant with Emory?
I found out in the bathroom, in the quiet of my own house, after school one day in the Spring of 2008.
Can I now tell you where I found out when/where I was pregnant with Harlan?
I found out in the bathroom of, Target!  LOL!  I found out the day that I went to meet Emory's babysitter (the beloved Jen!) in order for me to go back to work.  I cannot help but laugh at the thought of the ridiculousness of it all!

From the Mouth of Emory

As Emory & I were snuggling in Cam's bed after his nap, Layla was lying on the floor cleaning herself and he noticed & said
"Layla eat peanuts!!!"
*Note, he refers to his man parts as "peanuts"*

Happy Halloween 2010

The boys had a fabulous Halloween with many adorable Halloween outfits/costumes!

While driving yesterday
Emory: "Turn on!"
Mommy" "Turn on what?"
Emory: "Turn on Lady Gaga!"
He then proceeded to ask for "Peacock" which is a Katy Perry song.  I think Emory needs to start spending some more time listening to music with Daddy!

From the Mouth of Emory

Mommy: What is Santa going to bring you for Christmas
Emory: Pizza!!!

All morning long while we were home
Emory: Do something!
Mommy: Like what?
Emory: Do something!

Emory playing with Harlans hair: Haircut?

He also loves to tell us to "Move" push us aside & say "Ek-cuse me!" and tell us to "Stand up" to play "Sokka game!"

The Best Days of My Life

I am living them & I coulnd't be more thrilled.  I guess this post is a little more about me than the boys, but it is because of them that I can write this.
I've wanted to be a Mom since forever.  I remember playing with baby dolls since forever & I remeber in about 3rd/4th grade my best friend & I got the realist-looking dolls.  I loved mine & loved being it's "Mommy."  We would always play house or school.  Ha...go figure I am now a teacher & a mom.  Pretty ironic, or not.  Some kids dream to be a football player or a famous actress when they grow up, a somewhat untouchable goal.  Thanksfully I've been blessed enough to have my biggest, best dreams come true.  My boys are my world.  Don't get me wrong, I love my "me" time, but I love it because it allows me ot be the best & happiest Mommy that I can be.  The things that my boys do make me glow with pride.  I love showing them off & I also love simply basking in their amazingness all alone on rainy afternoons.

Happy 2 Month Birthday, Harlan Joseph!

-You are developing quite a sweet, little personality
-You are still very laid back & pacified easily
-You now recognize Mommy & Daddy's voices when they are near you
- I think you might recognize Emory's too b/c today you looked up when you heard him today.
- You are getting stronger & stronger
- You kick your legs like crazy when you try to "talk"
- You are getting better with tummy time
- You wear mostly 3 month clothing
- You are in a size 1 diaper
- You weigh over 11 lbs...thus you are a great eater!
- You sleep almost all morning, cat nap in the afternoon & are awake in the evening
- Most nights you sleep from 10:30 pm - 6:30 am
- You moved into the pack n play, out of the bassinet b/c you were kicking off of the sides

The Good Stuff

Harlans, (yes, I know there is an "s" at the end, but it is a nickname for now)
Our days with Emory are somewhat chaotic.  We run here, there & everywhere, while you just go with the flow & either sleep or peacefully take in the sights.  But now, right now, is the good stuff, the stuff Mommy lives for.  Emory NEVER snoozed on me & I had always wished he did.  You LOVE to snuggle & sleep on Mommy, so we savor these moments in the quiet of the evening once your big bros have gone to bed.  You are the best, Baby Harlan.  Mommy loves you, and your little baby snores :)

Baby Cousins!

Harlan & Emory met their baby cousin, Shiloh this weekend!  Harlan & Shiloh are going to be great playmates since they are only a few weeks apart...not that you can tell by how big our little monster looks next to her!

Pee Pee on the Potty!

As thing usually happen around here, Emory went pee pee on the potty for the 1st time (for Daddy...not Mommy of course!) last night after we got home from Trick-or-Treating!  Daddy was getting him ready for bed & he said "Pee pee on the potty" (as he usuallt does before nap time, but never manages to get anything out & into the potty).  So I translated for Matt & off they went to the potty & I'll be darned, he actually pee'd!  I was shocked!  We celebrated with a few m&m's & off to bed we went!  Good job Emmy Vaughan!

Happy Halloween 2010!

Happy 20 Month Birthday, Emmy Vaughan!

You are a BIG boy! Every day you learn new things & surprise us with them. You weigh about 23 lbs & are getting taller every day. You are still a skinny boy, but healthy as can be. You:
- Love watching the Phillies play-offs.
- Are really into football. You run around the living room saying "football, helmet, tackle, Eagles!" You also will fall to the ground when you yell "Tackle!"
- Adore your baby brother & sometimes call him "Brother." You sometimes get upset when you hear him crying on the monitor.
- Take 1 nap a day for about 2 hours
- Eat pretty well. Grandma introduced you to M&M's & you love them! Your favorite is still donuts.
- Have fun at Gym Tots & Swimming lessons
- Enjoy walking up & down the steps by yourself
- Love to watch tv, especially in our bed. You lay back, put one hand behind your head & your thumb in your mouth. You say "Watch tb!"
- Like to pretend to cook! Mommy is getting you a kitchen set this week!
- Hold Baby Harlan at least once a day.
- Tell Mommy "Drive, keys, phone, shopping, Target!" have really put it together, Boy!
- Adore Cami. You cry when he leaves you.
- Are obsessed with "Wadur boddu's" (aka water bottles). Mommy got you your very own at Target!
- Imitate everything we say. Some of my favorites are "Ok, Honey." "Yes, Punkin." "Here ya go, Baby." You will say it right back to me when I say it to you.
- Have adjusted very nicely to having Harlan in the house. You are learning to play independently when Mommy feeds Baby Harlan
- Love Yo Gabba Gabba still
- Had fun at 1-2-3 play with me at the library. You really liked the teeter totter, the noodle bin & Mr. Potato Heads
- Ask to be held & like to snuggle
- Have turned into the cutest, funniest, sweetest little toddler...Even though I still call you my Baby :)
We loooooooooooove you!

Big Boy!

Harlan Joseph had his 1 month check-up today. He is perfectly healthy & growing like a weed! He is 10 lbs 9 ozs (up 2 lbs 6 ozs) & 23 inches (up 1.5 inches). I am thrilled b/c he is thriving so well on Momma's milk :) He also got his first shot, which was no fun. We got the all clear to let him start trying out bottles, which should be fun for Daddy!

Our days

Once in awhile it is fun to look back & see what my days used to look like, so I figured I would give an updated look at our days. It may seem a little chaotic in writing, but it really doesn't feel like it while it is happening.
6-7 am: Harlan wakes up, gets changed, eats, snuggles with Mom in bed
7-8 am: Emory wakes up, gets changed, asks "Baby Harlan?!", snuggles in bed with Mom & Baby Harlan, while Baby Harlan falls back to sleep. We typically switch back & forth between Sprout & Disney
8-9 am: Breakfast for Emory & Mommy, and sometimes take Cam to school
9 am - noon: Play outside or in the basement, go to the library, playground, go shopping, do art, feed Harlan again...
Noon: Emory naps, Mommy eats lunch & plays with Harlan & feeds Harlan, Mommy cleans, does wash, straightens up, pays bills, preps dinner, messes around one the computer
2 pm: Emory wakes up, sometimes has lunch or a snack (he isn't a big lunch eater) Harlan eats, take the boys for a run in the jogger and sometimes pick up Cam
4 pm: Play, help Cam with homework, sometimes watch some tv, feed Harlan
5 pm: Daddy is home!!! We all get very excited, play, dinner, sometimes Daddy takes Emory & Cam to football practice, while Mommy stays home with Harlan
7:30-8:30 pm: Emory's bed time, feed Harlan, Cam has a snack & is off to bed
9 pm: Mommy & Daddy hang out with Harlan & he gets 1 more feeding
10-11 pm: Mommy & Daddy go to bed
Midnight/3 am: Sometimes feeding time for Harlan
Our days are really fun. It is nice that Emory is talking now b/c I actually don't have to talk to myself all day. He is also my cheerleader when I run him in the jogger, which is nice :) I am so blessed to be able to spend my days with our sweet boys. I don't ever take it for granted. I knew I was patient with Matt doing the music thing for all those years...I knew my time would come & alas it is here :)

National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day

Today, October 15th, is recognized as National Pregnancy and Infant Loss Remembrance Day. This day holds such a special place in my heart, as we lost a little angel exactly 1 year ago this week. Light a candle tonight in memory of not only our tiny angel & those of my close girlfriends, but all those that you may know personally.
...hugging my beautiful, healthy boys a little tighter today!!!

Harlan loves his Daddy

Harlan's schedule looks a little something like this
6 am: Hears Daddy leave for work, wakes up, eats, realizes Daddy left
7 am: Back to sleep
Wakes for feedings every 2-4 hours during the day & snoozes most of the rest of the day except for a few wakeful periods here & there
4 pm: Wakes up b/c he knows Daddy is almost home & stays awake until around 9 pm, when Daddy goes to bed.
...Something tells me he rests almost all day long so that he can stay awake for 5+ hours straight once Daddy gets home from work.

Pumpkins, and Apples and Hay...OH MY!

We had a fun time at Varner's on Saturday. We checked out tons of pumpkins, played in the pumpkin patch, ran through the hay maze, got pulled by horseys & had so much fun! Cameron really wanted to get freshly picked apples, so we did & everyone enjoyed one on the way home. Emory now LOVES eating apples, as long as the skin is peeled off. Harlan snoozed the whole time, but woke up just in time to share in the apple-fun on the way home!
