Leaps & Bounds

Mommy's "Bug" (the new nickname shortened form of "Bugga Bugga" has been doing some pretty fun things lately. He found his tongue & if you stick yours out at him, he will do it back to you. It is the cutest! He also waved at Mommy yesterday as she left to go out for dinner with a friend. He is doing so well standing up while holding Mommy or Daddy's hands. His legs are SO strong, considering what he went through so recently. Today at his 9 month check-up he weight 17.5 lbs (8th %ile), 27 inches (10th %ile) & was 75%ile for his big ol head! We think he is just perfect the way he is & off the charts in our opinion! Emory also helped Mommy smile & laugh on what was not a very good day. It is simply amazing that one little person can make our lives so bright regardless of what else in the world is happening around us.

Thanksgiving According to Emory

I am thankful for my Daddy who puts the biggest, brightest smile on my face everyday when he gets home from work. He also is very patient with me & those of you who know my Daddy, know that patience is not always easy for him. I am thankful for my Daddy being so smart, bc that helped him to get a very good job & make money so that I can have nice things...like having my Mommy with me almost all day, everyday.

I am thankful for my brother, Cameron. I am thankful for him because he is the best big brother that I could ever wish for. He loves me when I am happy & he does everything he can think of to make me happy when I am sad. He reads to me & plays with me & treats me like a big boy & I like that. I am grateful for Cameron showing me what it means to be a good boy. I am also thankful for Cameron helping Mommy & Daddy, b/c sometimes they need a hand & Cameron is always willing to help them with taking care of me.

I am thankful for my Mommy. She is a pretty nice lady & she shows me what love is all day, everyday. She gives me a million hugs & kisses & tells me how special I am. She takes me to do fun things, like going to the library & swimming. I am thankful that my Mommy takes care of me & loves me no matter what, even if I am sad & it is late at night.

I am thankful for all of my other relatives & Mommy & Daddy's friends. They all spoil me & tell me how cute I am. They get me nice things & spend time with our family & that is really special. They help out my Mommy & Daddy when they need it & that helps out me too.

I am also thankful for Layla. She is kind of my favorite thing in the whole wide world right now.
I am thankful for my ba-ba's & my yo-baby. I am thankful for my toys & my books. I am thankful for my hips being all better & for being a healthy baby. I am thankful for my nice house. I am thankful for Elmo. I am thankful for my exer-saucer. I am thankful for my cute clothes. I am thankful for my fun hats & cute shoes (ok...Mommy is more thankful for those than I am, but it is ok). I am thankful for being so darn cute. I am thankful for my big, bright eyes & my healthy lungs that let me yell with joy. I am thankful my cute butt (again...Mommy) & my round, full belly.

Happy Thanksgiving! If you are reading my blog, I am thankful for YOU for caring about me & watching me grow big & strong!

Happy 9 Month Birthday, Digga Digga Baby!

After 20 takes we finally got a good one

"What is over here?"
"I am bored, Ma."
"What is over there?"
"Mommy 2 pieces of paper is even more distracting."
"Shake-a, shake-a, shake-a!"
"What is going on?!"

Before I start, if you look at all of the "Happy Birthday" posts, you see that I always call Emory something different in them. Thankfully he knows his name, but the poor kid gets so many nicknames from me, it is crazy! So, for right now he is my "Digga Digga Baby!" Don't ask where it came from, b/c I have no clue...it just came out one day & has stuck for at least a little while.
Our big, baby boy is 9 months old tomorrow! Once again, I can't believe it. He is becoming such a little boy so quickly. Here is what he is up to nowadays
- You feed yourself finger foods. You loves Mum-Mums, which are basically a long, skinny rice cake
- You also like to try to feed yourself puffs, but most end up on the floor
- You have gotten the hang of drinking from a sippy cup & do so at most meals
- You love to play by himself in his pack n play
- You have gotten 3.5 teeth in the past week+
- You are only in his brace at bedtime & nap time
- You are starting to try to pull yourself up
- You push yourself backwards when trying to crawl, but you have started to rock a few times on you knees
- You talk NON-STOP all day long...it is pretty obvious that you are Mommy's kid!
- You move NON-STOP all day long...and again, it is pretty obvious that you are Mommy's kid!
- You stares at us when we eat
- You love Wegman's vanilla cake
- You are amused by Layla day & night
- You kick your legs & flails your arms like crazy when you are excited
- You have tons of fun at Childwatch at the YMCA playing with his friends, but you sometimes whine when I leave or pick you up
- You have begun to try to take things from people, specifically other babies sippy cups & paci's
- You weighs about 19 lbs
- You wears a size 3 diaper
- You wears 9-12 month clothing
- You nap from 8:30-9:30, 12:00-1:30 & sometimes a power nap late in the afternoon
- You still sleep 7:30 pm - 7:00 am
- You had your first slumber party with Mommy. This past week while teething you just wanted some love & apparently sleeping next to Mommy on the floor in your room made you :) Although every time you woke up & realized I was there, you grabbed my face, pulled my hair, hit me, etc
- You wave to yourself in the mirror
- You are still the cutest, sweetest baby who is loved more & more each moment of each day

Santa!

Emory & I made a well-needed trip to King of Prussia today, only to find that Santa has already arrived! Being practical, Mommy just decided to get his picture done today, so as to spend some "qt" with Santa & not have to wait in line to do so! Emory loved Santa & all of the lights on the big tree!

A Sad, but Happy "First"

Emory seems to have come down with a cold. He was a fussy boy all day today & most of tonight. By "fussy," I mean he kind of whined a little & did not nap very well. Tonight, I took him up to give him his bedtime bottle & he drank some, then began playing & I put him in his crib. He criiiiiiiiiiiiied and cried for a good 10 minutes until I went back upstairs. When I went back, he plopped his head on my shoulder & conked out. It was the sweetest feeling ever. He couldn't comfort himself with his thumb b/c he couldn't breathe out of his nose & he needed his Mommy to comfort him. Those of you who know Emory, know that he has never been a one to cuddle, nor does he typically rely on anyone else to help comfort him. I can seriously say that this is the first time in almost 9 months that he has willingly allowed me to rock him to sleep b/c he wanted me to, not just b/c he was so exhausted that he simply passed out. I hope that he starts to feel better soon & I can promise you that if my baby boy needs some love & comfort tonight, I will go into his room with a smile on my face b/c I am the luckiest Mommy in the world to have him crying b/c he wants & needs me...just me :)

Brothers & Best Friends

I love the weeks when Cameron is home with us. It is such an amazing feeling to have everyone all together. No one loves it more than Emory. His face lights up when Cameron hops into the car when we pick him up from school & every second after that when they are together. Cameron is such a great big brother. He loves Emory in such a special way...like no other love I have ever seen him show to anyone else. Today we had a really nice afternoon after we picked up Cameron from school. We stopped at the farm zoo to show Emory all of the animals. Cameron loved pointing out to Emory what the different animals were & telling him their names. When we got home Cameron did his reading homework by reading to Emory, which he often does. Then when we were at the Doctor's office for Cam's flu shot, Cameron asked if he could read another book to Emory. When we got home, it was time for Emory's tubby & Cameron helped. He loved pouring the water over Emory's head & playing with him while he was in his tub. Then as he does every night, he gave him a very sweet kiss goodnight. Everyday Cameron takes special care to show Emory how loved he is & Emory does the same in his own special baby-way.

Quirky Stuff

Emory is getting quite the little personality. He is constantly talking whenever he is awake.
He also does this weird little thing where he rubs his thumb & his index finger together.
He likes to play in his crib when he wakes up from his naps.
He has figured out how to get his toes to his mouth with his brace on & he manages to always get his socks/shoes off.
He yells to other babies who yell to him.
He is in constant motion whether it be flailing his arms, kicking his legs or wiggling around.
He insists on feeding himself puffs, Mum-Mums, bits of cheese or frozen fruit in his safe-feeder.
He can sometimes be a bit of a Momma's boy when Mommy leaves him.
He loves to sit like a big boy in shopping carts, while sitting in the cart, he likes to try to grab things from off of shelves/hangers. (i.e. food at Wegmans or clothes at Target)
He got his first boo boo from Layla. Daddy, Cam, Emory & Layla were hanging out on the floor Sunday morning (while Mommy slept in) & Emory laid on Layla's paw & the slid it our from under him & gave him a little scratch under his eye. Poor dude :(
Ever since Mommy had a cold, you fake cough numerous times a day.
