Happy Halloween!

Emory is being a Baby Sushi for his first Halloween! Please tell me this isn't the cutest thing you have ever seen! Mommy is pretty good with a hot-glue gun & some fabric!

Our Crazy Week!

Eating a frozen waffle for breakfast! "Someone" doesn't like to be fed anymore. He prefers to do so himself. Mr. Independent once again!
The boys in their winter jammies

Ok, I know you can't really see it, but you try taking a picture in a baby's mouth! Emory's first tooth popped through yesterday!

Fun with his Godmother at Pierogi Sunday. Yes, he did try some pierogi filling & loved it! He is a true Pollock!

Dancing Machine

Emory has his first "baby trick." When someone else sings "Dancing Machine" & dances, he follows along & dances too! It is the most adorable thing we have ever seen...along with everything else cute that he does!

Dada, Dada, Dada, Mama, Layla!

Emory was full of antics today. In the above video he was trying to eat his feet. It was pretty cute, b/c he is still a little stiff from his cast, so getting those little piggies to his mouth isn't very easy. He makes his "old man" noise when trying to do so.

He has lots to say lately. This afternoon he was saying Dada & doing a funny thing with his tongue, so of course I had to tape it! He then proceeded to repeat "Mama" back to me & if you wait until the verrrrrrrrry end, you can hear him trying to say "Layla."

Our kid is the cutest & I love every little thing that he does!

Halloween Parade

We took Emory to his first parade this week. We went for dinner at our favorite, Iron Hill & then to the parade with our friends, Stacy, Caleb & Mabel Jane.
Emory sat in a booster for the first time & was loving being a "big boy." He enjoyed watching all of the sights & sounds in the parade, but was especially fascinated by the fire trucks.
Mabel was the cutest little Elmo we have ever seen & Emory makes a pretty sweet little pumpkin too :)

Putting It In Reverse

Someone is a little confused about crawling. He now knows that he can move himself, he just doesn't know how to do so in a forward direction.

Making Babci Proud

Emory's Great-Babci is smiling down from heaven! He figured out how to pull the slot-like lever on his toy. He loves pulling it & hearing the music play while watching Mommy & Daddy dance.

Snack Time

Emory's new favorite snack is "Mum Mums." They are kind of like rice crackers. He loves feeding himself & looks so darn cute doing it!

Happy 8 Month Birthday, Mr. Baby!

"Hold the paper? Ok Mom, I got it!"
"Hold the paper & look at you? Ok! Ok!"
"Is this good enough?"
"Does it look good if I just put the paper on my foot?"
"Ok, I will put it down."
"How about I let Layla eat it?"
"This is perfect, isn't it, Mom? I am looking at you & showing you the paper!"
"Can I eat it, if Layla can't?"
"Mommy, this is the best I can give you today! I am making a cute face & you can read the paper!"
"Just kidding, Mom. I can give you a little smile, but I can't do it with the paper there to distract me!"

Mr. Baby

Mr. Baby is the newest nickname from Mommy. Check out how big Mr. Baby is getting! He was 16 lbs 7 ounces the day after his cast came off. He is allllllllllmost double his birth weight!

Big Boy Stuff

We realized the other night that Emory can actually sit on his own. He gets a little wobbly if he leans too far in one direction, but he does pretty well for the most part. He loves sitting up & playing with his toys.
He has also started trying to crawl. He is a little mixed up in that he pushes himself backwards instead of pulling himself forwards.
Less than one week out of the cast & he is making great strides already! That's my boy!

Dear Emory Vaughan,

You are the light of my life. You are the butter on my toast, the frosting on my cupcake. You are the baby of my dreams and my biggest, most important dream come true. You are my smile as the sun rises, as the sun sets and every moment in between. You are the air that I breathe. You are the laughter in my tickles and the the beautiful bow atop my present called life. You are the reason that I start and end everyday feeling pure joy. You are the ultimate, tangible being of the love that your father and I share each and everyday. You are the answer to my prayers. You are the pride in my heart and the hope in my soul. You are everything that is good and well in this world. You are a taste of heaven on Earth. You are the boca in my burger. You are the cheese to my macaroni. You are the pitter, patter in my heart. You are the filling to my pierogis.
Emory Vaughan Fleischman, my promise is that I will do my absolute best to try to show you each and everyday that we are on this Earth how much you mean to me and how much I love you from the bottom, top and middle of my heart.
Love Always,
Your Mommy

Emory's First Trip to the Pumpkin Patch

We took Emory for his first trip to the pumpkin patch at Linvilla Orchards today. He had fun on his first hayride & picking out his first pumpkin. He kept hitting the pumpkin & smiling at it, so we knew it was a keeper! Afterwards we went to visit Grancie for her birthday & she took some BEAUTIFUL pictures of our precious baby boy.

Our big boy

Snuggling with Daddy after a long, but wonderful day

Well, Mommy, Daddy & Emory made it through 11 weeks & 6 days in a spica cast! We can't believe his time in his cast is over. He was such an amazing trooper through everything. He had his appointment at CHOP at 2:50 pm yesterday & since we are on the VIP list, we made it through the day fairly efficiently. Upon arrival Emory & Mommy checked in & Emory proceeded to yell & scream in excitement as we waited. We walked around & watched all of the other kids & parents. We then went back to a room & were then sent to the cast room. The cast room was very busy, but we got in pretty fast. I told the tech that Emory thought it was funny when he got his cast slit open & I could tell that she was hesitant to believe me. She obviously didn't know my baby! He prooved me correct as she cut away his cast. He watched her intently & laughed & smiled the whole time. Once it was off Mommy was nervous that his legs would look awful & that he would be very sore. Nope...not my boy. He was kicking like crazy & his legs looked great considering he just had a cast on for almost 3 months. I gave him a little bath right there in the cast room & we then went to xray. On the way to xray, I felt like a new mom all over again. I related carrying my newly un-casted little man to carrying a wet noodle. It was a foreign, yet amazing feeling! In xray he got one quick xray in which the tech had to hold his legs down straight. He wasn't thrilled about it, but he was fine as soon as it was over. Then into see Dr. Dave (Speigel) & some residents. Dr. Dave gave Mommy a major compliment in saying he has NEVER seen a baby's skin in such great shape after being casted & said that he could tell that I was very observant in keeping him as clean as possible. Dr. Dave also informed me that he had never casted a baby so young, but that he made amazing progress. I got to see the xray & his hips look perfect. We then went to the NOPCO brace shop & got Emory's bucket brace. He will wear the brace full time, except for diaper changes/bathes, for 4 weeks & he will then be in it PT during naps/bedtime after that. Daddy & Mommy are OVER THE MOON that it is only full-time for 4 weeks. After 2 hours at CHOP we were done & went home to celebrate with dinner at Iron Hill. Our baby boy was such a trooper & continues to amaze us with his positive attitude about life :) He got his first bath in almost 3 months this morning & he LOVED it! I love having my snuggly, clean baby-scented baby back!
