My First trip to the big city!

My 1 week old picture!
Being a good boy with Mommy at CHOP

Mommy had to take me to CHOP on Friday to get my hip checked.  I have Developmental Dysplasia of the Hip.  It sounds very fancy, but it really isn't.  It just means that the ball joint doesn't sit right in the socket joint of my hip.  We were at the hospital for 4.5 hours &  I was a VERY good boy!  I got a brace that I have to wear for 6-8 weeks.  My hip doesn't hurt me & I don't even realize that it is even on.  Mommy doesn't like it though b/c it makes changing my diapy's very hard.  But, Mommy & Daddy are very glad that I am a healthy boy & that hopefully in 6-8 weeks my hip will be all better.

Emory's 1st Doctor Visit

Everything went great!  He gained 7 oz. since yesterday!  You can see from his picture on the scale that he threw his arms up in excitement knowing he was gaining his weight back!  Daddy & I did too, we felt like we won the lottery!  His general health is perfect, we just need to take him to get his hip checked...it is subluxated (aka dislocated/the ball joint is out of the socket). It is not a big deal & does not hurt him one bit.  He just may need to wear a little brace for awhile.  It is an effect of the fact that he was Frank breech for what appears to be a very long time.  He has an appointment at CHOP on Friday morning.  We are so very grateful for such a happy & healthy baby boy!

What a day!

While the baby's due date, uneventfully came & went, today was a totally different story!   The day started out with me having a very positive attitude that today would be a better day b/c I was miserable all day yesterday.  I got Cameron up & ready for school, started to make our breakfast smoothies & realized that Miss Layla was mia.  I looked upstairs, no Layla, I looked outside, no Layla.  I then realized that the gate was open & Miss Layla decided to take herself out for a walk.  Thankfully as soon as I called her, she came running back into the yard.  Crisis averted.  We eat our breakfast & are out the door on time for school.  About 5 minutes into our drive to school, red & blue flashing lights...I am getting pulled over.  I think the cop wanted to walk right back to his car once he realized he pulled over an very pregnant lady.  He asked if everything was ok in that I was driving 55 mph in a 25 mph zone.  I sort of pulled the pregnant card & said that we were late getting Cameron to school & thus running late for a doctor's appointment (mini-lie...we were right on time for school & my appointment wasn't until 10 & it was only 8:40).  He asked for my license, registration & proof of insurance.  Well, our car is new & I just changed our insurance, thus all I had was my license & a bunch of random paperwork from when we bought our car.  He said that was fine & just asked for me to hand over all of the papers & that he would sort through them.  He went back to his car & came back & informed me that he did give me a citation, but only for 30 mph in a 25 mph zone, which carries no points & is only a little over $100.  He did have some pity on the poor pregnant lady.  Now we are off to school & made it on time.  I did a little bday shopping for Miss Mabel Jane, who turned one today & then to the doctor's office.  I checked in only to find that my appointment was not in the computer, but I very politely explained that I am seen twice a week & was scheduled for today at 10 & Friday at 1.  She obliged & squeezed me in.  After sitting in a room, listening to what sounded like a woman giving birth in the room next door, I was seen.  My bp was good & the baby's heart beat was good, but upon closer inspection, the doctor thought that the baby might be butt down.  She did an ultrasound & confirmed that the baby is breech.   Long story, kind of, short...we are scheduled for a c-section on Friday morning at 7:45 am.  Baby Fleisch's birthday will be February 20, 2009!

Just a little insight about my little breech baby.  All through my pregnancy I  have been fascinated by the fact that babies are often head down for a majority of the time in the womb.  Humans outside of the womb would not be able to do such a thing b/c the blood would constantly be rushing to your head.  So I think our baby is smart in being breech b/c he/she knows that you shouldn't let blood rush to your head!  I know...I am crazy!

Regardless, I am so excited to meet Baby Fleisch on Friday.  Being the planner that I am, I am over-thinking things way to much, but that is just how I am.

The end, or shall I say the beginning, is in sight!!!!!!

The day has come!!!

FEBRUARY 17, 2009!!!!  And still...no baby.  My day has consisted of making breakfast for Cameron & I, taking Cameron to school, attempting to treat myself to a spa manicure & pedicure (every where decent was booked so it didn't work out) & going back to bed b/c I am incredibly pissy.  This baby is not making Mommy very happy!  I swear, I am starting to wonder if my body actually knows how to go into labor!

Another one bites the dust...

The picture is before we went to our friend's Valentine's Day party on Saturday!

It is Monday morning & still no baby.  I think everyone is growing as impatient as I am.  We actually had a "false alarm" last night.  Around 5:30 Matt & I were bumming around, watching tv & I felt what I think was a contraction.  It was definitely something that I have never felt before.  So I was hopeful, until an hour later, when nothing else happened.  That was it, one measly contraction.  We did have an awesome weekend though, just Matt & I.  Friday night we went to the mall & spent some money on a new Ipod for me & new running sneakers (mind you I didn't yet give him his Valentine's day gift of the gift certificate for the running store!) for him.  We then went for a nice dinner at Legal Seafoods.  It was delicious!  Valentine's Day was Saturday.  We started the day by exchanging gifts.  Matt got me a Willow Tree figurine.  It is so beautiful.  It is a woman with child & is entitled "Awaiting a Miracle."  I love it.  It was so thoughtful.   Then I ran some errands while Matt did some work on his work van.   I was walking through Target & this cute little girl was walking behind me & says "Daddy, that lady has a really big belly!"  Dad politely says, "Yes, Honey, she is going to have a baby."  The little girl responds with "But Daddy, it is reeeeeeeeeeeeeeally big!"  Dad again politely says "Yes, Honey, she is probably going to have a baby very soon."  It was so cute...much cuter than some adults who just stare at me as if I am an alien or do no belong in public b/c I am "so" pregnant.  Saturday night we made a yummy Valentine's dinner together & ate it by candle light.  Matt played our playlist from our wedding dinner music.  It was very romantic.  We then cleaned up & proceeded to snuggle up on the kitchen floor (I know, so romantic, but it started as giving Layla some love) & listened to our wedding song, the one that Matt wrote/recorded for me.  I hadn't heard it in awhile & it made me cry as usual.  Then we got ready & went to our friend's house for a Valentine's party.  We had some fun & gave everyone a good laugh when "the very pregnant woman" played guitar on guitar hero.  I am sure I was a sight to be seen!  We had fun none the less.
Today my Mom is coming into town for work.  She has off today, so we are going to just hang out & go our for lunch.  Then off to pick up Cameron for the week.

Day 3 - Modified Bed Rest

I have to laugh at the title "bed rest."  I am not good at bed rest.  Tuesday I went to school to wrap up some loose ends & Matt & I went out to dinner.  Wednesday I finished up Cameron's Valentine's, did a bunch of paperwork nonsense that I've been meaning to do, went to get my lab work done & my doctor's appointment & then Matt & I went over to have dinner with Kim, Chris & Tori.  Today I filed away all of our random paperwork, filed our taxes, downloaded some new tunes with a playlist entitled "Baby Fleisch, please come."  I've listened to it numerous times & he/she is not feeling it.  I then went Valentine's day shopping for my amazing husband.  I printed out a beautiful picture of me putting his wedding band on him during our ceremony & printed out our vows atop the picture & framed it.  It turned out beautifully.  I also got him some Ferrero Roche chocolates & a gift certificate for the running store.  He has wanted new running sneakers for a long time & keeps not getting them...so now there is no excuse.  I also got him a "husband" Valentine's card :)  That was fun.   After my doctor's appointment yesterday I made 2 more for next week.  TWO MORE....I was not thrilled.  One is for Wednesday & one is for Friday.  Sheesh....I don't know about a whole week more of not meeting this little person.   The good news about the baby coming next week is that my mom will already be here on business.  Maybe that is what Baby Fleisch is waiting for...to feel his/her Grandma Sitko nearby?  I don't know...it's gotta be something that he/she is waiting for!

Another Monday

We made it through yet another weekend without the baby. We had a nice weekend. Friday night we took Cam to the car show in Philly & then had some dinner at Chili's. Cameron had a fun time & enjoyed seeing all of the cars. Saturday I had a very nice girls afternoon. We went to see "He's Just Not That Into You" & then for a late lunch at Panera. Saturday night, Matt had a boy's night out & Cam & I worked on his very cool Ipod Valentine's. Sunday was family day, we did some stuff around the house & I went mega-grocery shopping. Sunday night was Cameron's boy scout banquet. It was very nice & then Matt & I hung out & watched the Grammy's.
Update on Friday's baby appt. I had borderline high bp, 130/90. It read the same 3 times & the last time it read 130/82. They rescheduled for me to come back this afternoon for a re-check. I had the school nurse check it this morning & it was 148/92! I got a little freaked & called the doctor, but they said I didn't have to rush in & coming in at my scheduled 2:15 would be fine. So, we will see what they have to say. My gut feeling is that today is my last day of work. I am totally ok if it is not, b/c I can't imagine just sitting home for days until he/she decides to arrive.

We will keep you, eventhough "you" don't know this blog exists yet, posted!

Update..I just got home from the dr.  My bp was 150/90 when I got there so they put me on modified bed rest & I have to go back for a re-check on Wednesday afternoon.  I also have to do a ridiculous 24 hour urine collection.  I am calling it my science project.  I have to collect & refrigerate all of my urine over the next 24 hours.  Do they realize what that means to a38.5 weeks pregnant woman?!?!  I think I am going to set up camp tonight between the bathroom & the refrigerator.  I was 1 cm dilated, which I am happy about b/c I was totally closed up on Friday.  Looks like this may be a long week ahead, but as long as Baby Fleisch stays happy & healthy, Mommy is happy too!  I made a trip to the movie store & got 3 movies to watch.  Between that & Rachel Ray, I should be good to go for tomorrow.  I will need to find a new hobby by Wednesday.

Another weekend approaches....

Not too much planned for this weekend. Tonight we might take Cameron to the Philadelphia car show. He is really into cars recently, so Matt & I thought it might be something that he would enjoy. I am quasi-dreading walking around all night, after working all day, but heck...maybe it will shake this little baby down a little!

Right after school I have my 38 week doctor's appointment. I am not expecting much, or shall I say any, progress from last week. I do believe that Baby Fleisch should respect one of Mommy's favorite sayings of "To be early to is be on time, to be on time is to be late, to be late is to be unacceptable." I don't think he/she is going for it though. In trying to look on the bright side, we don't have Cameron next week, so I would be content to have just one more full child-less week. Saturday I have plans to go see "He's Just Not that into You." I have been waiting for this movie to come out forever, so I am super excited. And having some quality girl-time will be great too! Sunday I think will be some grocery shopping & Matt & Cameron are going to his boyscouts banquet. I think I will bum around with Miss Layla. She needs some quality time with Mommy before the big day!

Oh, we started an online baby pool. I love it! It is so entertaining to see what everyone thinks & it will be great to see who has the closest guess once Baby Fleisch does decide to arrive. Right now the guesses range from 2/10 at 6:26 am to 3/1 at 8:43 pm. The funniest part about that wide range of guesses is that one is my mom's & the other is my dad's. It is a pretty even split right now as to thoughts on a boy vs. a girl.
